Cross country roundup for Saturday, Sept. 12: Kamiakin boys second at Tracy Walters
Phillip Fishburn finished third to lead the Kamiakin boys to a second-place team finish at the Tracy Walters Invitational on Saturday in Spokane.
Only nationally ranked North Central was better, winning the team title with 129 points to the Braves’ 180.
NC’s Justin Janke won the 5,000 meters in 15 minutes, 51 seconds.

HIGHLANDER INVITE: Richland’s Riley Moore won the boys 2.5-mile freshman race at Shadle Park in Spokane with a time of 13:16.22.
Moore was third overall to Mt. Spokane junior Hayden Dressel (12:40.50) and Ferris senior Eric Holm (13:08.50).
Southridge sophomore Keanu Daos, Walla Walla junior Alex Iben and Richland senior Jonah Sandoval were the top Mid-Columbia finishers in their classifications. Iben was fourth, and Daos and Sandoval were sixth.
The Kamiakin girls were fourth in the 2.5-mile varsity race with 152 points. Walla Walla (205) tied for seventh, Richland (234) was 10th and Southridge 13th at 340.
Walla Walla junior Erika Leinweber (15:36.50) was fourth, while Kamiakin freshman McKinzi Teeples finished eighth in 16:04.50.

CAPITAL INVITE: Hailey Cleavenger was the top finisher for the Hanford girls on the 2.23-mile course at Capital High School in Olympia, winning the junior race in 14:34.79. Her time was fourth overall among the four girls races.
Amber Skouson, who took fifth among sophomores, had Hanford’s No. 2 time (14:41.71).

ULTIMOOK RACE CROSS COUNTRY INVITATIONAL: The Hermiston boys, with 69 points, finished second to Hood River Valley (41) in the 5,000-meter varsity 5A-6A race in Tillamook, Ore.
The Bulldogs were led by Hayden Earl (eighth, 17:51.61), Isaac Sanchez (ninth, 18:10.44), Josiah Niederwerfer (11th, 18:11.59), Angel Castellanos (17th, 18:45.47) and Graydon Fritz (24th, 19:07.08).
The Hermiston girls took fourth with 143 points. They were paced by Morgan Hancock (16th, 23:09.33), Melany Solorio (17th, 23:10.28), Hannah Earl (22nd, 23:45.66), Sofia Gispert (45th, 24:58.8) and Sidney Tovey (48th, 25:00.51).
ASOTIN INVITE: Landon Callas (ninth, 15:41), Skylar Wood (23rd, 17:10) and Joe Leamy (51st, 19:42) led Waitsburg-Prescott to a sixth-place team finish in the 2.6-mile boys varsity race.
