The News Tribune’s 2025 all-state girls basketball team

Every year, the state of Washington produces exceptional basketball talent at the high school level.

Here is The News Tribune’s 2025 all-state girls basketball team, as selected by our high school sports staff.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Brynn McGaughy

Central Valley

Forward, 6-3, sr.

The 2024-25 Gatorade Player of the Year, McDonald’s All-American, and five-star Washington commit still isn’t satisfied. McGaughy transferred from hometown-Colfax to Central Valley for her senior season and powered the Bears to perfection, completing an undefeated 27-0 season with a 3A state title at the Tacoma Dome. Three-level scorer averaged 16.3 points, 9.1 rebounds, and two blocks per game. Central Valley head coach Jason Wilson: “I never would’ve guessed that a kid with that kind of pedigree and all the accolades... would be such a nice and humble kid.”

FIRST TEAM

Cheyenne Hull

Davis

Guard, 6-0, soph.

One of the state’s prolific scorers is equally feared as a defender, named the 4A Columbia Basin Big-9 MVP and Defensive Player of the Year. Hull guided the No. 1 Pirates to their first-ever state championship with a tournament-high 92 points (four games) to earn MVP honors at the Tacoma Dome. Sophomore standout averaged a double-double (21.7 PPG, 11 RPG) with five assists and four steals per game.

Brooklynn Haywood

Union

Guard, 5-9, jr.

Division-I offers are rolling in for the state’s leading scorer. Haywood is the nation’s No. 26 recruit in the 2026 class, per ESPN, and led Union to a 20-win season that ended inside the Tacoma Dome. Greater St. Helens League Player of the Year dropped 31 points with 7.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game, surpassing the 2,000-point career scoring mark in February.

Olivia Collins

Sumner

Guard, 5-9, jr.

The 4A SPSL co-MVP knocked down triples and locked down opponents, an all-around impact player on Sumner’s state runner-up team. Collins tallied 16.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, and three assists per game throughout her most consistent season yet. 4A state tournament first-team selection.

Finley Parcher

Lynden

Guard/Wing, 6-1, soph.

Lynden’s driving force powered the Lions to a repeat 2A title in Yakima, capping an undefeated 28-0 season in style. 2A Northwest Conference Player of the Year averaged 21.1 points, 7.4 rebounds, and nearly four steals in just 22 minutes per game. 2A state tournament MVP is 57-1 in a Lynden uniform.

Ashley Uusitalo

Lake Washington

Guard, 5-9, jr.

Lake Washington’s sharpshooter joined the 1,000-point career scoring club in February and powered the Kangs to a 4A state quarterfinals appearance. 4A KingCo MVP averaged 17 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals per game.
