Prosser quarterback shatters a record that stood for nearly 15 years
Kory McClure passed for a school record 496 yards on Thursday night to lead host Prosser over previously unbeaten East Valley of Yakima 38-14 in a 2A Central Washington Athletic Conference football game.
McClure was 32 of 45, tossed three touchdown passes against two interceptions.
McClure’s 496 yards surpasses Jordan Durbin’s 449 yards thrown in a game in 2008.
The Mustangs jumped out to a 31-0 lead before the Red Devils scored twice.
Neo Medrano rushed for a 14-yard touchdown, followed by a 3-yard TD run by Cade Harris.
Anthony Martin, Harris and Chris Veloz each caught TD passes from McClure.
Last week, CWAC officials got an agreement with 2A Greater Spokane League officials to a Week 10 regional playoff format.
The GSL champion gets an automatic berth into the state playoffs. But the No. 2 and 3 GSL squads will play the top two CWAC teams in state play-in games.
Meanwhile, Othello continues its run through the CWAC with a 55-7 rout of Ellensburg on the road.
Julian Alegria and Sonny Asu each scored two touchdowns apiece to give the Huskies a 26-0 lead.
Alegria scored on runs of 2 and 1 yards, while Asu romped in from 4 and 65 yards out.
Terrill Freeman, Xzyan Martinez and Josue Solorio each added touchdowns too for Othello, now 5-0 in CWAC play and 6-1 overall.

▪ In the 1A SCAC East, Connell continued its winning ways in conference play by beating Wahluke 42-0.
The Eagles are 2-5 overall, thanks to a tough non-conference schedule. However, the team is 2-0 in SCAC East play.
Connell quarterback Carson Lloyd led the way, going 15 of 22 for 180 yards passing and 4 TD passes.
Kellen Riner caught 9 of Lloyd’s passes for 57 yards and a score.
Adrian Magana rushed 12 times for 91 yards and two scores. He also led the team defensively at linebacker with 8 tackles (2 for loss).
Jackson Forsyth added 76 yards rushing on 10 carries for the Eagles.
In other games, Kiona-Benton picked up its first conference win by holding off College Place 20-12.
Royal’s non-league game at Foss was canceled because of air quality.

▪ The top three teams in the standings continued their winning ways last week in the 2B Eastern Washington Athletic Conference’s East Division.
Columbia-Burbank rolled over Dayton-Waitsburg on the road, winning 55-8.
Michael Lenke had 352 yards of total offense — 221 passing, 131 rushing — accounted for four touchdown passes and two TD runs for the Coyotes.
Tristan Frimodt caught 3 passes for 85 yards and a score.
Host River View pounded Mabton 67-0 on Friday night, as Miguel Farias scored three touchdowns, and Ajani Fornos passed for 185 yards and four touchdowns.
Tri-Cities Prep outscored Warden at Chiawana High School 42-26.
The big game of the week will pit River View at Columbia-Burbank at 7 p.m. this coming Friday, with the winner taking sole possession of the conference standings lead.

▪ Liberty Christian and DeSales continued to stay atop the Southeast B-8 standings with victories last weekend.
Senior Keegan Bishop had 438 total yards of offense and added a team-best 11 tackles on defense to lead Liberty Christian to a 64-22 road victory over Sunnyside Christian.
Bishop was 21 for 38 for 347 yards passing, 5 TD passes, and had 20 carries for 91 yards rushing and two touchdowns.
Magnus Hayden was the main recipient of Bishop’s passing, catching 7 passes for 153 yards and a touchown.
Dash Bosma led SSC with 142 yards passing and two TD passes. He also rushed 10 times for 49 yards and a score.
Meanwhile, Jack Lesko caught 4 passes for 103 yards and three TDs, plus a 40-yard pick-6, to lead DeSales over Touchet 64-7.
