Local runners excel at Nike BorderClash 19

Kamiakin’s Jonah Franco finished in the top 20 to help Washington beat Oregon at the Nike BorderClash 19 on Nov. 18 at the Nike World Campus in Beaverton.

Franco covered the 5,000-meter course in a time of 16 minutes, 20.46 seconds. Teammate Ryan Child was 22nd (16:21.84), while Richland’s Riley Moore was 26th (16:24.31).

Kenneth Rooks of College Place was the top Mid-Columbia finisher, clocking a 16:12.68 to finish 12th.

Kennewick’s Johan Correa finished 32nd (16:30.32), while Kamiakin’s Porter Grigg was 46th (16:42.40) and Hanford’s Caleb Olson 49th (16:44.55).

In the girls race, Kennewick’s Geraldin Correa finished 45th (19:49.87), with Richland’s Katie Andrus 64th (20:15.50) as the Washington Girls also won.
