Walla Walla has 4 athletes sign Division I deals
Paige Gardner has one more high school swim meet remaining, but the Walla Walla senior won’t hang up her suit once she’s done at the Class 4A state meet at Federal Way this weekend.
Gardner will continue to compete in the pool at Washington State University.
Gardner first will compete in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle races at state, as well as swimming a leg on the 200 and 400 free relays.
Softball players Lauren and Faith Hoe will continue their careers at Weber State in Ogden, Utah, while Kamrym Coleman is headed to University of Central Arkansas.
Lauren Hoe was an MCC first-team selection at catcher, while twin sister Faith was a first-team pick at shortstop. Coleman, the MCC Player of the Year, is a 5-foot-7 pitcher.
But before the softball players head off to college, they are part of the Walla Walla volleyball team that is making its first appearance at the Class 4A state tournament since 2002 this weekend at Toyota Center.
The 14-5 Blue Devils play their first match at 1:30 p.m. Friday against Curtis.
