Somewhat of a formality, but still quite the accomplishment, the Kamiakin High School boys cross country team remained the top 3A squad in the final Washington state cross country coaches poll, released Monday.

With senior Jonah Franco and junior Ryan Child finishing fourth and fifth, respectively, the Braves won the state title on Saturday at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco, ending a streak of 11 consecutive championships for North Central. Kamiakin had been the state’s top-ranked team for several weeks.

The Kamiakin girls were ranked 5th in the poll, the same spot they finished at the state meet. Other local teams listed in the final poll included: Richland’s boys (10th), Hanford’s girls (honorable mention), Connell’s boys (ninth) and Tri-Cities Prep’s boys (10th).
