Pasco’s Martinez tops field at MCC girls golf pod

Pasco’s Jalayne Martinez shot 38 on the front and back nine during an MCC girls pod match on Monday at Horn Rapids Golf Course in Richland to edge Richland’s Danika Palm by one stroke at 4-over 76.

Palm led the field by two strokes heading into the final three holes but bogeyed No. 16, 17 and 18 to open the door for Martinez, who parred 17 and 18. Hanford’s Lacy Skwarek took third with a 78.

Palm did lead the Bombers to the top team score of 345, as the Richland foursome of Palm, Kea Robertson (84), Breanna Watts (92) and Macy Robertson (92) all shot 92 or under.
