Golf: Southridge’s Brown, Pasco’s Martinez win MCC pods
Southridge High School senior Austin Brown shot a par 72 to win Wednesday’s Mid-Columbia Conference boys pod at Canyon Lakes Golf Course in Kennewick.
Brown was the medalist at last month’s MCC pod match at Meadow Springs.
Nick Yamauchi (73), Carl Underwood (75), Evan Hattori (78) and Rhett Levin (80) led Richland in the team scoring at Canyon Lakes. Southridge took second with a total of 326, 20 strokes behind.

MCC GIRLS POD: Pasco junior Jalayne Martinez won at Canyon Lakes with a 3-over 75, five strokes better than runner-up Danika Palm of Richland.
Palm helped the Bombers take the team title with a score of 346, beating Kamiakin by a stroke. Richland’s boost came from Allie Parnell (86), Kea Robertson (88) and Breanna Watts (92).
Kamiakin’s Alexa Clark (82) and Mia Johnson (84) were third and fourth in the individual standings.
Southridge freshman Samantha Hui, who beat Martinez by a stroke to win last month’s MCC pod at Meadow Springs in Richland, finished with an 86 at Canyon Lakes.
