Golf: Southridge’s Brown loses in playoff at Dolquist Invite

Southridge golfer Austin Brown fell to Eisenhower’s Holden Backes in a playoff for the Lee Dolquist Invite individual title Friday in Yakima.

Brown and Backes each shot 72s to set up the playoff at Apple Tree Golf Course. Backes eagled the first playoff hole.

Brown led Southridge to a fifth-place team finish. The Suns had a combined score of 336, one stroke behind Walla Walla.

All five Wa-Hi golfers — Parker Dressler, Tyler Morrison, Alex Johanson, Nate Towner and Peter Aguilar — scored in the 80s.

Kamiakin won the Dolquist girls team title Thursday. The Braves finished ninth in the boys tournament, 13 strokes behind Southridge. Bolton Dauenhauer led Kamiakin with a 78.

Othello, Hanford and Warden also competed in the boys tournament.
