Men's basketball: Western Washington advances to regional semifinal

Western Washington 102, Chaminade 87: John Allen’s 29 points helped the defending champion Vikings run past the Silverswords (19-11) on Friday in the first round of the NCAA Division II tournament in Bellingham.

Western Washington (28-2) will play Cal State San Bernardino in a regional semifinal at 7:30 p.m. Monday at home.

Seattle Pacific 85, Grand Canyon 59: The Falcons hammered the Antelopes in the first round of the national tournament in Bellingham, behind 21 points from Jobi Wall.

Seattle Pacific (26-3) will play Cal Poly Pomono at 2:30 p.m. Monday in a regional semifinal in Bellingham.

Cal Poly Pomono 69, Chico State 61: Terrence Drisdom scored 26 points to lead the Broncos (28-2) past the Wildcats (19-11) in Bellingham.

Cal State San Bernardino 75, Dixie State 69: Brian Goins scored 23 points to lift the Coyotes (20-8) past the Red Storm (22-7) in Bellingham.

Mountain West

(15) New Mexico 60, San Diego Staet 50: Tony Snell scored 17, including five 3-pointers, to lead the Lobos (28-5) past the Aztecs (22-10) in a semifinal in Las Vegas.

Western Athletic Conference

New Mexico State 74, Texas State 65: Sim Bhullar had 14 points and 10 rebounds, and the Aggies (23-10) rolled into the final with a victory over the Bobcats (12-22) in Las Vegas.

Big Sky

Weber St. 76, North Dakota 74: Davion Berry scored 25 points and Kyle Tresnak’s basket with 19 seconds left broke a late tie and the Wildcats (26-5) defeated North Dakota (16-16) in a semifinal in Missoula, Mont.

Montana 70, Northern Colorado 56: Will Cherry scored 21 points, and the Grizzlies (24-6) rolled into the final with a victory over the Bears (13-18).
