ESPN’s College GameDay picks Temple over WSU

Those who hoped to see ESPN’s College GameDay crew in Pullman for Saturday’s big test against No. 8 Stanford will have to wait another day. ESPN chose Philadelphia — home to No. 21 Temple — to stage its playful college football preview show.

ESPN producers said it was a difficult choice that went down to the wire, but the attraction of two ranked teams facing each other — Temple will face No. 9 Notre Dame — was too much to deny.

“This was the toughest call we had to make in my 12-year tenure producing the show,” said Lee Fitting, a senior coordinating producer at ESPN, in an email to The Philadelphia Inquirer. “There were two schools that College GameDay has not visited, in addition to having great seasons.”

Well-known to GameDay fans is the contstant presence of the WSU school flag , which has flown in the background on every GameDay set since Oct. 2003.
