CBC, Walla Walla out of NWAC softball championships

Columbia Basin College and Walla Walla Community College were eliminated from the NWAC softball championships Saturday at Portland’s Delta Park.

Megan McMurrin drove in three runs for CBC, but Clackamas scored in the bottom of the seventh to beat the Hawks 5-4.

CBC finished the season with a 33-18 record.

Walla Walla (29-20) went home after a 17-0, five-inning loss to NWAC East rival North Idaho, which got a combined 11 RBIs from Chloe McIntosh and Katie Barron.

After Wenatchee Valley lost to Clackamas and North Idaho fell to Lower Columbia, no NWAC East teams remained in the tournament.

COLLEGE BASEBALL

NWAC SUPER REGIONALS: CBC took advantage of 14 hits, while Karver Pate struck out six in five innings to lead the Hawks to an 11-2 win over Edmonds in a West Super Regional loser-out game in Tacoma.

Isaiah Hatch, Tanner Simpson and Colton Kelly each drove three runs for CBC (33-13), which will play Pierce at noon Sunday at Mt. Tahoma High School. The Hawks must win twice against Pierce to move on to next weekend’s Elite Eight.

Pate and Josh Williamson combined to pitch a three-hitter against Edmonds, which beat CBC on Friday.

CHEMEKETA 1, WALLA WALLA 0: The Storm scored in the third inning and held off the Warriors in the North Super Regional championship round in Mt. Vernon.

Griffin Davis struck out six in eight innings for Walla Walla (27-17), which will play Chemeketa again at 1 p.m. Sunday for the super regional title.
