BIG BEND 4-2, COLUMBIA BASIN 3-11: The Hawks (31-15, 21-9) salvaged a split of their NWAC East doubleheader with the host Vikings (9-27, 8-22).
An error in right field with two outs scored the winning run for Big Bend in the opener, spoiling a big game for Kayla Andrews. The former Richland High School standout pitched all eight innings, allowing two hits and striking out 13, and she hit a two-run home run.
But Andrews got her revenge in the nightcap, smashing three two-run homers for the Hawks.
CBC’s long-ball parade continued with homers by winning pitcher Sarah Gilliam (Southridge), Bri Hofstetter and Karissa Valdez (Othello).
Hofstetter and Valdez hit the first home runs of their career.
CBC finishes the regular season with a home doubleheader at 2 p.m. Saturday against Treasure Valley.
