CBC baseball sweep SW Oregon
Tanner Simpson threw eight innings of shutout ball in the opener, Drew Loera and Anthony Gosline hit key RBI singles in the second game, and Columbia Basin swept Southwestern Oregon 8-0 and 4-3.
Simpson struck out 11, walked none and gave up just three singles. Colton Kelly drove in a pair of runs, and Cory Wills went 2-for-4.
Kelly’s third hit of the second game got things going for the Hawks (10-2) in the eighth inning. His team trailing 3-2, Kelly led off with a single and moved up to third on Isaiah Hatch’s base hit. Loera followed with an RBI single before Spencer Bennion walked to load the bases. Gosline then drove in the go-ahead run..
Loera drove in three runs in the game. Karver Pate sparkled in five innings of relief, giving up just two hits and a walk while striking out four.
