CBC men lose to Whatcom in NWAC basketball quarterfinals
The Columbia Basin College men’s basketball team lost to Whatcom 64-47 in the NWAC tournament quarterfinals Friday in Everett.
Brad Scott (Southridge High School) led the Hawks (14-15) in scoring with 14 points.
CBC sophomore Andrew Reddout, who entered averaging 22 points per game, got all 11 of his points at the free-throw line. He went 0 for 7 from the field.
It was a tough night offensively for the Hawks, who shot 13 for 53 (25 percent).
CBC will face Yakima Valley in an elimination game at noon Saturday at Everett Community College. The winner will play for fourth place at 11 a.m. Sunday.
Whatcom will meet Clark in a semifinal at 8 p.m. Saturday. Spokane and Big Bend, the top two teams in the NWAC East during the regular season, will face off in the other semifinal at 6 p.m.
The Hawks, who beat Lower Columbia in the round of 16, trailed Whatcom 30-24 at halftime. The Orcas, who were 9-for-27 shooting (33 percent) in the first half, shot 14 for 33 (42 percent) in the second.
Leif Anderson scored 18 points, and Logan Schilder had 15 points and 17 rebounds for Whatcom (22-9).
