CBC women top Big Bend, stretch win streak to 5
The Columbia Basin College women’s basketball team used a big second quarter to defeat the Big Bend Community College Vikings 76-56 in its home finale Wednesday in Pasco.
The Hawks outscored the Vikings 24-4 in the second quarter to take a 46-20 lead at halftime.
Former Pasco High School standout Sierra Perez finished with 15 points for CBC (16-10 overall, 8-3 NWAC East), while Cayla Jones scored 11. Marissa Caballero (Grandview) had 10 points for the Hawks, whose winning streak grew to five games.
CBC’s regular season will wind down with road games against Spokane (Saturday), Blue Mountain (Feb. 24) and Walla Walla (Feb. 27). The Hawks are in third place in the NWAC East, and four teams in the region will advance to the postseason.
Maryah Tipping had 13 points, nine rebounds and five blocks to lead Big Bend (8-19, 2-9).

SPOKANE 53, WALLA WALLA 43: Kennedy Corrigan (Richland) made eight of her 10 free-throw attempts and finished with 12 points, while Tabitha Wellsandt (Kamiakin) had 11, but the Warriors lost at home to the Sasquatch.
Walla Walla (16-8, 5-6) was outscored 33-15 in the second and fourth quarters.
NWAC East leader Spokane improved to 20-6 overall and 9-2 in the region.
