CBC baseball falls to Yakima in NWAACC twinbill

Columbia Basin College dropped an NWAACC doubleheader in Yakima but still held on to the fourth spot in the NWAACC East, which keeps them in the playoff hunt.

Columbia Basin (22-12 overall, 13-11 NWAACC East) lost a heartbreaker in Game 1, falling 7-6 in 11 innings after Ryan Atkinson drove in Jordan Webb with a one-out single for a 6-5 lead in the top of the 11th.

But Yakima came back with two in the bottom of the 11th on back-to-back singles by Ryan Leone and Ty Earley, as Cole Ryan and Connor Lau crossed the plate with the go-ahead runs.

Kenton Brunson went 3-for-6 in the opener with a double, a home run and two RBIs.

The Yaks (24-14, 16-8) won a shortened Game 2 by a score of 13-2, as Nate Giles drove in two runs with three doubles, and Andrew Castillo had three hits and three runs.
