▪ Down 7-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth, the outlook was bleak for the Richland Knights on Sunday in state tournament action against River Ridge, but a big sixth inning and a walk-off single by Cooper Shelby lifted the Knights to an improbable 8-7 win.

Gavin March ripped a three-run triple in the sixth to spark a six-run, game-tying frame, and a lead off single and sacrifice bunt set the table for Shelby to slap the game-winning hit through the middle of the infield in the seventh. Richland will take on Asotin at 3 p.m. Monday.

Rodeo

Shayla Currin of Dayton dropped a few spots on the all around cowgirl standings at the final performance of the National High School Finals Rodeo Saturday in Gillete, Wyo., but still brought it home with a ninth place finish.

Currin ended up taking 16th overall in pole bending, and Clay Barry of Kennewick was 13th in barrel racing.
