Kennewick American headed to Cal Ripken World Series
The Kennewick American 12U All-Stars won games against Kennewick National and West Linn on Sunday to capture the Pacific Northwest Region title and earn a berth to the Cal Ripken World Series, which begins July 29 in Aberdeen, Md.
Kennewick American made quick work of KN in their semifinal matchup, scoring 20 unanswered runs in the first two innings to cruise to a 21-2 victory. Trevor Ridley was unstoppable at the plate, going 3-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs scored. He also hit one of KA’s four home runs.
Myles Mayovsky got it done on the mound and at the plate in Kennewick American’s 10-0 championship game victory over West Linn. The game lasted just four innings, and Mayovsky kept West Linn scoreless while only allowing two hits and striking out four on just 37 pitches. Offensively, he went 3-for-3 with a home run, a double, four RBIs and two runs scored. He went 6-for-6 on the day and either scored or drove in 10 of KA’s 31 runs.

▪ After losing their first two games of pool play, the Richland Babe Ruth 13U All-Stars were one game away from seeing their season come to an end at the Southern Washington State Tournament, but four consecutive victories gave them a championship and a chance to keep playing summer baseball.
David Grewe went the distance on the mound, and Vince Graney’s bases-loaded triple sparked the offense to lead Richland to a 5-1 win over Longview in the championship game Sunday in Kelso.
Richland trailed early before Msaon Brunson doubled to lead off the fifth. Two more runners reach to set the table for Graney’s big hit. Trevor Dame followed with an RBI single for all the runs Richland would need.
Key contributions throughout the tournament also came from: Carson Craig, Evan Thompson, Cael McMurdo, Matty Carlson, Landon Webb and Ben Fewel.
Richland advances to the Pacific Northwest Regional in Spokane July 26-31.
▪ The Greater Richland Little League 10U All-Stars won in blowout fashion in their first game of state on Sunday, beating Salmon Creek 16-2 in four innings.
Anthony Chvedov had a two-run triple and a two-run single in GRLL’s 10-run third inning that put the game away. Josh Woodward and Jack Forbes each had three hits.
Greater Richland played Burlington-Edison in the second round of the state tournament on Monday.
