Youth baseball roundup: AAA Outlaws sweep Pepsi-Pak

The Kennewick AAA Outlaws swept Pepsi-Pak in a doubleheader Wednesday at Carlon Park in Selah.

Xander Dectjudos pitched all 10 innings of the first game for Pepsi-Pak, but the Outlaws finally scored two unanswered runs in the top of the 10th to pick up the 8-6 victory.

Andrew Townsend pitched the bulk of the game for the Outlaws, going five innings. Andrew Vargas and Tyler Detloff both had two hits in the victory.

The Outlaws scored their runs early and pitched well to pick up a 2-1 victory in the finale of the doubleheader.

Trent Sellers gave up the one score in his five-inning start and Fabian Green pitched a scoreless sixth and seventh to get the six-out save. Mason Martin drove in both of the Outlaws’ runs.

▪ The Richland National Little League 10-year-old All-Stars suffered their first loss of the District 12 Little League tournament to Greater Richland Little League on Wednesday night 10-4.

RNNL will next play at 6 p.m. Friday and will advance to the championship game Saturday with a win.

On Tuedsay, the RNNL All-Stars outscored Yakima National 16-4 and were paced at the plate by Dallas Bennett and Jase Vopalensky, who both had two extra-base hits.

▪ The Tri-City Pilots 14U baseball team earned a berth into the USSSA State Championship Game last weekend by going 4-0 at the Washington State Championships.

In the first game, they defeated the Bayview Bombers Baseball Club (University Place) 6-3. On Saturday, the Pilots beat the Northwest Futures (Vancouver) 6-4, then topped Team Easton (Seattle) 8-7 in the nightcap after trailing 7-4 heading into the bottom of the seventh. In the tournament finale on Sunday, the Pilots defeated Seattle Select Baseball 12-4.

The Pilots will face Showtime Navy (Puyallup) at 4 p.m. July 6 at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma in the winner-take-all state championship game.

▪ Kaden Enriquez pitched a complete game, striking out eight and giving up four hits, to help lead the Twin City Titans to a 4-2 victory Thursday over the Miles City Outlaws at the Cody Legg Tournament in Bozeman, Mont.

Twin City took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first inning and led the rest of the way.

Friday, the Titans will play Mountain View at 9 a.m. and Bozeman at 4:30 p.m.

▪ The Pepsi-Cola AA Dusters scored seven runs in the fifth inning to beat the Hanford Flames 10-2 on the opening day of the 35th annual Duster Bowl at LaPierre Field.

Caleb Beasley went the distance for the Dusters, while his teammates Payton Flynn and Jake Mulholland each went 3-for-3.

The Kennewick Bandits beat the Twin City Red Sox 11-5, and the Pasco Sun Devils routed the Kennewick Phantoms 10-1. The Mountain View Thunder of Vancouver closed the day with a 10-2 win over the Red Sox.

The tournament will continue through Sunday with four games daily starting at 9 a.m.
