Baseball: Southridge loses to Lake Washington 5-4 in 3A state semifinal
Bradley Morgan delivered nine gutsy innings on the mound for Southridge on Friday morning, but the Suns couldn’t overcome five errors in the field in a 5-4 loss to Lake Washington in the Class 3A baseball state semifinals at Gesa Stadium.
Austin Lively’s leadoff single in the top of the ninth was turned into the winning run for Lake Washington by a pair of infield errors. It was one of four unearned runs Morgan was tagged with.
The Southridge ace have up just eight hits to the potent Kangaroos lineup, walking three and striking out three on a 130-pitch day.
The Suns mustered just seven hits of their own, but just one after the fourth inning when they took a 4-1 lead.
Southridge will play in Saturday’s third-place game at 10 a.m. Lake Washington plays in the championship at 4 p.m. Their opponents will be determined by Friday afternoon’s other semifinal between Lakeside and Sumner.
