Walla Walla’s Mitch Lesmeister maded two free throws with 34 seconds to play Friday night as the Blue Devils held off the visiting Hanford Falcons 63-61 in Mid-Columbia Conference play.
The Falcons had two chances at the end, but missed a 3-pointer and a 5-foot shot at the buzzer.
“The kids faught back for a chance to win,” Hanford coach Paul Mayer said.
The Blue Devils had a 17-point lead at the half, and led by 13 at one point in the fourth quarter.
“You hate to see that,” Wa-Hi coach John Golden said of losing two big leads.
Andrew Harvey led Wa-Hi (2-1) with 26 points and five assists, while Jacob Sivonen had 20 points and 12 rebounds for Hanford (1-3).
