* 1997 -- Todd Gleaton of Fayetteville, N.C., posted a one-stroke victory over six others in a sudden-death playoff to claim the title with a 5-under 283 total in the Nike Tri-Cities Open at Meadow Springs Country Club in Richland.
* 2001 -- Tyson Roberts completed 20 of 26 passes for 370 yards and three touchdowns to lead Richland to a 31-21 victory over Moses Lake at Fran Rish Stadium, creating a two-way tie for third place with the Chiefs at 3-1 in the Big Nine standings; and Shane Brown caught two touchdown passes from Scott Rulon on his way to a 98-yard night as Hanford plastered host Wapato 40-0 in a Mid-Valley League game.
* 2003 -- Brian Burroughs of Richland landed a 33.94-pound salmon to take first prize at the Tri-Cities Prep Salmon Derby in Richland. Crystal Eissens of Kennewick won the tournament prize with a two-day total of 114.65 pounds, while Kennewick's Brad Christian won the youth title with a 23.24-pounder.
* 2004 -- The National Indoor Football League owners voted 13-8 in Las Vegas to approve an expansion team moving into the Tri-Cities in 2005. The Tri-Cities missed approval the previous year by one vote.
