Is Reece James Playing Today for England vs. Norway In the World Cup Quarterfinals?

England will play Norway in the 2026 World Cup quarterfinals today, July 11, 2026, at Miami Stadium. England is a win away from reaching the semifinals for the first time since the 2018 World Cup.

England will have a difficult task against Norway, and England head coach Thomas Tuchel will hope to count on all of his squad players.

It is confirmed that Tuchel will not count on Jarell Quansah, who received a two-match ban after his red card against Mexico in the Round of 16 last weekend.

This left big question marks for the right-back position, especially since England has played three different players in that position in the World Cup so far. One of those players is Reece James, who is seen as the first-choice right-back of the England team.

James only played the first two England games of the group stage against Croatia and Ghana. James suffered a hamstring injury after the Ghana match and missed the past three games.

Ahead of the Norway game, Reece James returned to team training and is expected to be available for the game today.

Will Reece James Start for England vs. Norway?

England head coach Thomas Tuchel confirmed that his team is fully fit and available for the match against Norway after the final training session.

Thomas Tuchel said, "The best news, we had everyone available in training. We have the full choice except for our suspended player, Jarell Quansah."

Reece James is available to play the match against Norway, but it is unclear whether he will start as the right-back.

David Ornstein of The Athletic reports that Ezri Konsa is set to start as the right back instead of Reece James, and also reports that John Stones will start as one of the center backs.
