EA College Football 27 Confirms Major Dynasty and Road to Glory Change

EA Sports is reversing one of the most controversial decisions surrounding College Football 27. After days of backlash from the community, the developer announced Friday that it will remove all paid progression options from both Road to Glory and Online Dynasty, acknowledging that it "missed the mark" with the feature.

The announcement is welcome news for Dynasty fans, many of whom criticized the addition of microtransactions in modes traditionally built around earning progression through gameplay. Players also argued that progression had been slowed compared to previous games, creating the impression that spending College Football Points had become the fastest path to developing a coach or player.

Why the Community Was Upset

The controversy wasn't simply about microtransactions-it was about where they appeared.

Dynasty has long been considered the centerpiece of the College Football series, allowing players to rebuild struggling programs, chase championships, and create multi-year dynasties through recruiting and coaching decisions. Road to Glory offers a similar experience by letting players guide a custom athlete from recruit to college football star.

After launch, players discovered paid progression options had been added to both modes. At the same time, many in the community reported that progression was noticeably slower than in previous games, with some claiming it was no longer possible to fully max out a coach or player without purchasing additional College Football Points. The criticism quickly spread across social media and YouTube, prompting widespread calls for EA to remove the feature.

EA Reverses Course

In a statement shared Friday, EA confirmed that all paid progression options will be removed from Road to Glory and Online Dynasty beginning tomorrow morning.

The studio also clarified that players who still have College Football Points remaining in their wallets will no longer be able to spend them in those modes. However, those points will remain in players' accounts and can still be used elsewhere in the game.

EA added that its long-term goal for College Football 28 and future entries is to deliver live-service content with greater transparency and better communication with the community.

The quick turnaround represents a rare reversal so soon after launch and shows just how strongly the College Football community responded. For Dynasty and Road to Glory players, today's announcement is a major win and ensures two of the game's most popular modes will continue to reward time spent on the field instead of money spent speeding up progression.
