Mariners' Logan Gilbert named AL Player of the Week

For the second time in his career, Logan Gilbert was named the American League Player of the Week on Monday, making him just the second pitcher to win the AL award this year.

The Mariners' 29-year-old right-hander went 2-0 in two starts last week, posting a 1.35 ERA with two runs allowed on five hits and an 18-to-3 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 13.1 innings.

Gilbert is the first Mariners pitcher to win the AL award since he also won it in July 2023 and the first Mariners player to win it since Cal Raleigh in June 2025.

The Angels' José Soriano is the only other AL pitcher to win the award this year (for week of April 11).

An All-Star in 2024, Gilbert could be making a strong bid for a second selection this summer.

The Mariners have won each of Gilbert's last six starts, during which he has a 1.49 ERA.

I think everything's in a good spot," Gilbert said Sunday. "You never have it all figured out, but we're always trying to just trend upwards. I don't know, whatever's working we're just gonna try to keep rolling with it.

In the Mariners' 3-1 win over the Red Sox on Sunday, Gilbert threw 6.1 innings, allowing one run on three hits while pitching on his first Father's Day as a new dad. He held his 7-month-old son, Henry, in his arms during his postgame news conference.

Last Tuesday, Gilbert struck out a season-high 10 hitters and allowed one run over seven innings in a 3-1 win over the Orioles.

Over the two starts at home last week, he held hitters to a .116 average (5 for 43) and a .401 OPS.
