NFL 'Urged' To Follow In World Cup's Footsteps

The 2026 FIFA Men's World Cup is more than a week old at this point, with dozens of games having taken place in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Several prominent NFL stadiums, including AT&T Stadium, SoFi Stadium, Metlife Stadium and more, are playing host to games for the tournament. Most of these stadiums have turf fields. However, for the World Cup, natural grass pitches have been brought in.

The NFL Players' Association has noticed this.

The NFLPA wants the league to have all-grass fields for players, as they believe it's better for longterm health.

"Tomorrow, the World Cup kicks off. Over the course of the tournament, 11 NFL stadiums will host 78 soccer matches on high-quality grass fields installed to meet FIFA demands. When the World Cup ends, many of these same stadiums will go back to turf despite 92% of NFL players preferring natural grass. If these extensive field changes are worth the cost for a month-long tournament, why aren't they worth the cost for the NFL players who primarily compete in these stadiums?" the NFLPA argued.

NFL 'urged' to follow in World Cup's path

Not only are grass fields supposedly better for avoiding injuries, but they look better on TV, too.

"I know they don't care but the NFL should take note of how amazing all the grass pitches look on TV for the World Cup and consider mandating them too," Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports shared.

Fans agree.

"All sports fields above high school level should be grass. Yes field turf is cheaper but it stinks," one fan added.

What do you think - does the NFL need to move to all-grass fields?
