EA College Football 27 Confirms New Equipment Updates - Here's What's Coming
With less than two weeks remaining until EA College Football 27 enters Early Access on July 2, EA Sports continues to reveal new details about this year's game. While much of the attention has focused on Dynasty Mode, Road to Glory, Team Builder, and gameplay improvements, the development team has now provided a closer look at several new equipment and authenticity updates coming at launch.
According to the developers, one of the primary goals for College Football 27 was improving player authenticity by reflecting modern trends seen across college football today. That includes updates requested directly by the community, along with new customization options for both players and coaches.
Many of the equipment updates in College Football 27 stem directly from player feedback and current trends seen across the sport.
Helmet and Player Equipment Updates
Several of the most noticeable additions are focused on player gear and how athletes appear on the field.
New equipment updates include:
- Hanging mouthguards
- Reflective visors
- Improved helmet fit and tilt positioning
- Smaller, more realistic shoulder pads
- Single leg sleeve options
The development team noted that hanging mouthguards were one of the most requested additions from players, while reflective visors expand the existing visor options that previously included only clear and dark variations.
EA Sports also addressed community feedback regarding helmet placement. Developers said helmets in previous versions did not always sit naturally on players' heads, leading to adjustments in both fit and tilt for College Football 27.
Meanwhile, shoulder pads have been resized to better match the look of today's college athletes, and players will now have access to the increasingly popular single-leg sleeve style seen throughout the sport.
New Coach Apparel and Uniform Pieces
The authenticity improvements extend beyond players.
For the first time, coaches will have access to branded shoes, along with additional hoodie and pants options. The additions are designed to better represent the unique sideline looks seen across college football programs.
New coach customization includes:
- Branded shoes
- Additional hoodie options
- New pants selections
Developers also revealed that more than 100 uniform pieces will be included, with many of the additions inspired by current real-world equipment and apparel trends throughout college football.

Focused on Authenticity
Rather than making sweeping visual changes, EA Sports says the goal was to capture the smaller details that help players and teams feel authentic.
From updated helmet positioning and modernized shoulder pads to reflective visors and expanded coach apparel, College Football 27 appears to be placing a greater emphasis on recreating the look of today's game.
Combined with the previously announced Dynasty, Team Builder, and gameplay updates, the new equipment additions represent another step toward making College Football 27 feel more authentic to the modern college football landscape.
With Early Access beginning July 2 and the full launch arriving one week later, fans won't have to wait much longer to see the new equipment updates for themselves.
