Best NRFI and YRFI Bets Today
Baltimore Orioles at Los Angeles Dodgers YRFI (-145)
The Orioles send RHP Brandon Young to the hill, and he's having a decent season at 5-2 with a 3.18 ERA. However, he can be had in the first with a 4.91 ERA. RHP Emmet Sheehan goes for the Dodgers, and he's 3-4 with a 4.76 ERA. He's a mess in the first, though, with a 6.92 ERA. This has good traction for a YRFI.
St. Louis Cardinals at Kansas City Royals NRFI (-105)
Cards RHP Dustin May is coming off a one-hit shutout, and he has put together one of the best stretches of his career in his last handful of starts. Over his last two starts, he has pitched 15 shutout innings, allowing just five hits with 15 K's. He hasn't allowed a run in the first in his last four starts. Royals RHP Stephen Kolek is 4-1 with a 2.68 ERA. He has just a 2.25 ERA in the first this season.
Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers NRFI (-115)
White Sox RHP Davis Martin gets the call Sunday, and he's 9-3 with a 3.31 ERA on the campaign. He has a minuscule 1.29 ERA in the first frame this season. The Tigers counter with 25-year-old RHP Keider Montero, who is 3-5 with a 3.67 ERA on the year. He has yet to allow an earned run in the first inning through 13 starts.
What Does NRFI and YRFI Mean in Baseball?
The term NRFI indicates no runs scored in the first inning. Its opposite, YRFI, indicates yes, a run will be scored in the first inning. It doesn't matter if the run qualifies as an earned run or not. If a run crosses the plate in the first inning for either team, the wager loses for the NRFI side and wins for the YRFI side.
