Dolphins Would Be Wise to Make 1 Move Before 2026
The Miami Dolphins are in all kinds of disarray during the NFL offseason, but that was the point. They needed to shake things up. And they did shake things up by hiring Jeff Hafley to replace head coach Mike McDaniel, who was there from 2022 to 2026.
So, there’s a new sheriff in town, and Hafley is making changes to this team. He’d be wise to make one more move before September rolls around.
One of the biggest holes in the Dolphins’ lineup is wide receiver. After trading Jaylen Waddle to the Broncos, the Dolphins really need a WR1 in their lineup. That’s why the team needs to sign a veteran wideout before the season starts.

In a piece for Bleacher Report, Brent Sobleski emphasized that this team really needs to sign a wide receiver.
“At this point in time, the Miami Dolphins are widely considered the NFL’s worst team. Obviously, games have yet to be played, but their roster is definitely suspect,” he says in the piece. “For example, the organization hasn’t placed its new quarterback, Malik Willis, in a position to succeed, because the Dolphins lack talent at wide receiver. A longtime veteran may not want to enter this type of situation. However, one can definitely enter this locker room and easily claim the WR1 spot.”
My Take: What a Wide Receiver Would Bring to the Dolphins
As this point, the Dolphins going with Malik Willis as their starting quarterback is quite an experiment. He’s not really tried and true, and it could go either way with him as the signal-caller. That’s why they need veteran wideout help.
The Dolphins parted ways with longtime quarterback Tua Tagovailoa during the offseason. He wasn’t a terrible player but also suffered from not having the right offensive line. The same thing will happen with Willis if the Dolphins don’t make a move soon.

Someone like Deebo Samuel or even a lower-profile player would make a great addition to this lineup. Unless Miami just wants this to be a development year and throw away any chance at making the postseason, this is a move they have to make.
