Blue Jays Facing Backlash After Roster News

Ahead of their series opener against the Chicago Cubs, the Toronto Blue Jays decided to call up LHP Brendon Little from Triple-A Buffalo.

After a fantastic season in 2025, Little struggled to begin the 2026 MLB season. He got into five games, going 0-2. He only had six total decisions in 79 games during 2025.

Little pitched just 3 ⅔ innings with a 24.55 ERA and 3.55 WHIP before getting sent down to the minors. When the official Blue Jays account posted the news of his promotion on X, it was not received well by fans.

"Tell us when he's available to pitch so I can skip those games please ," wrote a fan in the replies.

Another said, "Guess we don't want to be above .500."

One more said, "Just as we start turning it around ." This is in reference to the team coming off a sweep against the division rival Boston Red Sox.

Little's performance at Triple-A was intriguing to say the least. The lefty went 5-0 in 23 ⅔ innings pitched, striking out 32 and compiling a 2.31 ERA. The kicker is that he walked 19 batters for a rate of 18.9%. It will be interesting to see how manager John Schneider uses him, if at all.

Chad Dallas, the pitcher to get sent down, made his MLB debut on June 4. He pitched 3 ⅔ innings of one-run ball, striking out two and walking two.

He wasn't being used much, so it appears as though Blue Jays fans wanted lefty Adam Macko to replace Dallas instead of Little.

One reply on the Blue Jays X post said, "WE FORGOT ABT MACKO???" The reply is one of the most-liked under the original post.

It's unclear yet how long Little will be around this time. Perhaps he has figured it out in Triple-A, or perhaps it is only a short-term call-up.

Toronto is 37-38, good for third place in the American League East. They are nine games back of the first-place New York Yankees.
