Brendan Sorsby's Agent Wants Cincinnati Questioned for Ignoring Gambling Issue

Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby's college football future came to a premature end last week after he dropped his lawsuit against the NCAA, which declared him ineligible for the 2026 season.

Sorsby promptly declared for the NFL supplemental draft immediately after, but there's no guarantee that means he'll be on an NFL roster come training camp.

While Sorsby's college career is in the rearview, his agent Ron Slavin isn't leaving the college ranks without stirring up some more trouble. In a recent interview with 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, Slavin threw the University of Cincinnati (Sorsby's former team) under the bus for allegedly knowing about his client's gambling addiction.

"Nobody knew when he was in the portal that this was happening," Slavin said. "… If anybody should be questioned or catching heat, it should be Cincinnati because they knew for two years and never said anything or didn't do anything about it. That's the part of the story that gets lost."

It didn't take long for Cincinnati to respond to the allegations. The school issued a statement to On3 denying it knew anything about Sorsby's gambling troubles.

"We will reiterate what we have said before: all of our student-athletes receive extensive gambling education multiple times throughout the year, and we would never knowingly play an athlete who violated NCAA sports wagering regulations," the school stated. "If we ever became aware of impermissible wagering, we would report to the NCAA and comply with sanctions."

The 2026 NFL supplemental draft will take place in mid-to-late July. Sorsby is projected to be taken as high as the second round, but he could fall to the fourth- or fifth-round range due to the uncertainty of his NFL future.

Sorsby will likely be suspended for a large chunk of his rookie season due to his betting on his own team while at Indiana.
