Seton Catholic awarded its third consecutive WIAA Scholastic Cup
Seton Catholic captured its third consecutive WIAA Scholastic Cup for Class 1A, winning its fourth Cup in five years.
The Scholastic Cup is a points-based competition in which schools tally points for state team placings in athletic competitions, academic state placings and also sportsmanship.
In 1A, Seton Catholic tallied 1,710 points to easily outdistance runner-up Overlake of Seattle (1,105).
Seton Catholic captured academic state championships during the 2025-26 school year in baseball, girls basketball, girls cross country, boys soccer, softball, boys swimming, girls swimming, boys track and field, girls track and field and band.
The Cougars were also academic state runners-up in boys wrestling and football.
On the field and courts, the Cougars earned runner-up state finishes in girls soccer and softball and placed third in baseball.
"This Scholastic Cup award is an achievement that our community treasures and we are very proud of our student athletes in both academic and athletic excellence," said Kristi Burton, Seton's assistant athletic director.
Columbia River earned a second-place finish in Class 2A. The Rapids tallied 1,405 points, well behind Scholastic Cup winner Sehome of Bellingham (2,084).
River earned academic state titles in baseball and boys basketball, placed second in girls swimming and third in slowpitch.
In state competition, the Rapids were state runners-up in girls bowling, boys golf, girls soccer and boys tennis.
Camas was the top local school in Class 4A, placing seventh. The Papermakers tallied 779 points highlighted by third-place state finishes for gymnastics, boys swimming and girls track and field.
Kelso led the way among local 3A schools, finishing 13th statewide. The Hilanders were scholastic state champions in girls basketball, won the girls wrestling title and were state runners-up in bowling.
