Kelsey Mitchell on Why Sophie Cunningham is Fever's 'Glue Stick'
Indiana Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell says Sophie Cunningham is the team's unsung hero, holding them together.
Mitchell may be the scoring leader for Indiana this season, but she admitted that veteran Cunningham is the one making it work together.
Fresh off their 113-91 trashing of the Toronto Tempo on Tuesday, Mitchell was asked about the impact Cunningham brings to the team.
The three-time WNBA All-Star admitted that she's the ‘glue stick' of the team and keeps everyone intact.
"Soph is like the glue stick to this team," Mitchell said. "I think without her, we wouldn't be where we are. Her energy, her effort, her ability to shoot the ball, it just opened up so many avenues for us."
Aside from the on-court presence and veteran wit Cunningham brings, Mitchell also mentioned other off-court contributions she provides for the team.
"And as a friend, as a sister, Soph is one of the ones that she wants to look for a lot of stuff," Mitchell continued. "And so hats off to her for making it worth it."

Cunningham had her best scoring outing of the season for the Fever against Toronto, finishing with 24 points on 6-for-7 shooting from three, six boards, and two dimes.
It's the second straight game Cunningham has made a crucial contribution to the team, having starred in their 85-75 win over the Connecticut Sun on Saturday.
The 13th overall pick in the 2019 WNBA Draft dropped 11 points in the last two minutes against the Tempo to bag the win.
Currently, Cunningham is steadily improving her season averages. She is now up to 10.1 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 13 games for the Fever.
