NBA Insider Reveals Jaylen Brown's Stance on Bucks Trade: Report
By now, it’s no secret that one of the biggest trades expected this offseason will involve Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo as teams attempt to add the former MVP and NBA champion’s skill set to their rosters.
And for weeks, speculation has been swirling about the Boston Celtics attempting to bring the Greek Freak to become part of their team, but it would involve a blockbuster trade.
That deal would likely need All-Star Jaylen Brown, who helped lead the Celtics to a respectable record and position in the Eastern Conference standings with his teammate, Jayson Tatum, out most of the season recovering from his torn Achilles.
However, NBA insider Marc J. Spears recently revealed Brown’s interest level in playing for the Bucks, should he get dealt, and based on Spears’ comments, Brown wouldn’t be happy in Milwaukee.

“The Celtics, I’m hearing, would love to sneak in and get [Giannis Antetokounmpo]. That might mean moving Jaylen Brown to another place. I know Jaylen wouldn’t want to play for Milwaukee,” Spears commented about the situation on ESPN’s “SportsCenter.”
Brown has spent all 10 seasons of his NBA career with the Boston Celtics, helping them win an NBA championship in 2024. His performance during the NBA Finals earned him Finals MVP, which goes nicely with his five All-Star appearances and two All-NBA Second Team selections.
This past season, the star guard averaged 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists, with a 47.7% field goal rate. With teammate Tatum out all of the season except 16 games, the Celtics still achieved the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference, but fell in the first round of the playoffs to Philadelphia.
Brown’s lack of interest in playing for Milwaukee adds to the drama of a potential trade, but he might not have much choice in the matter. There’s always the possibility that the Celtics and Bucks could get a third team involved in their trade to make things work better in everyone’s favor.
It’s also not set in stone that the Celtics will land Antetokounmpo in a trade, as there are reportedly other teams interested in trading for him, including the Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Golden State Warriors.
The Heat and Warriors possess lottery picks in the upcoming NBA Draft that could hold more future value for a rebuilding Bucks team. With the NBA Draft occurring next week, a huge deal could happen to move the Greek Freak to a new team.
