Raptors Recap (June 16): Ridgefield 11, Portland 9

Highlights ­- The Raptors improved their record to a West Coast League-best 12-4 by winning the opener of a three-game road series against the Pickles. Ridgefield has won 9 of its last 10 games and is 7-0 on the road this season.

At the plate - Ridgefield 1B JT Summers (Oregon) went 3 for 6 with three doubles and five RBI. His two-run double keyed a five-run fourth inning that ended with the Raptors ahead 7-5. Summers added a two-run double in the seventh inning to put Ridgefield ahead 9-5. In going 7 for 16 over his last three games, Summers has raised his team-best batting average to .393.

On the mound - After Ridgefield starter August Ware (Oregon State) couldn't get out of the third inning, Declan Francis (Western Kentucky) pitched 3 2/3 solid innings of relief to earn the win. He allowed one run and four hits, striking out three....Cole Schmidt entered a bases-loaded jam with two-outs in the ninth inning. He retired the only batter he faced with one pitch to earn the save.

Next up - The Raptors and Pickles continue their series Wednesday. First pitch at Walker Stadium is 7:05 p.m. The Pickles encourage fans bring their dogs to the ballpark on Wednesday games.
