Knicks Fans Put Boomer Esiason On Blast For White House Demand
Former NFL quarterback and WFAN host Boomer Esiason has become public enemy No. 1 for a portion of the New York Knicks' fan base this week.
The Knicks sent the Big Apple into a frenzy this past Saturday by capturing their first championship since 1973. Jalen Brunson saved his best performance of the year for Game 5, dropping 45 points on the San Antonio Spurs.
While the Knicks have not yet announced their plans for this offseason, Esiason is hoping they'll visit President Donald Trump at the White House.
"When does Jim Dolan tell his team that we're going down to visit my good friend Donald Trump in the White House? That's what I can't wait for. And hopefully they all go. Hopefully, they go just like they're doing everything that they're doing here. I would love to see them be honored at the White House, given this is the 250th birthday of our great nation, wouldn't it be wonderful to see the Knicks standing there with a huge Knicks fan who happens to be the president of the United States," Esiason said on WFAN this Tuesday.
"You go out of respect to the office…I would think that everybody can get over the political nature of all of this. Doing the right thing by the team, which this mayor happens to be doing, I'm all in support of. I have no problem with the New York Knicks going to a socialist mayor and saying, ‘We're the champions, here are the keys,' and the mayor basking in the glow of that championship."
Fans fire back at Boomer Esiason.
Shortly after Esiason's rant about the White House went viral, Knicks fans made it clear they're done listening to his WFAN show.
"I'm thinking today is the day to finally mute Boomer Esiason," one person replied. "He adds literally nothing to the sports dialogue."
"Boomer is a pathetic, wannabe political commentator," a fan declared. "He's pretty much insufferable."
"This ain't football man you're not making NBA players go to the White House," another fan wrote.
"So Boomer wants athletes to shut up and dribble, but he's intrigued by who is going to visit the White House," a social media user said.
It's worth noting that Knicks owner James Dolan is very good friends with Trump. That's why the president attended Game 3 of the Finals at Madison Square Garden.
