NRFI, YRFI MLB Bets Today: Best First Inning Predictions for Tuesday, June 16

New York Yankees RHP Gerrit Cole looks to add to his solid start to the season after coming off the IL. We look for him to contribute to an NRFI against the Chicago White Sox. We like the YRFI in San Francisco Giants vs. the Atlanta Braves and the NRFI in the late-night matchup between the Tampa Bay Rays and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Everyone is back in action Tuesday, and we have some notable matchups to choose from for your NRFI/YRFI bet slip.

Best NRFI and YRFI Bets Today

Chicago White Sox at New York Yankees NRFI (-120)

The surprising White Sox send RHP Davis Martin to the hill. He's 9-2 with a 2.41 ERA on the campaign. He has a minuscule 1.38 ERA in the first inning this season. Yankees horse Gerrit Cole makes his fifth start, and he's 1-1 with a 2.45 ERA. He hasn't been scored upon in four first frames, and he has allowed just one hit. This looks to be a prime NRFI bet.

San Francisco Giants at Atlanta Braves YRFI (-120)

RHP Adrian Houser toes the rubber for the Giants. He's 2-6 with a 5.54 ERA on the season, and he has predominately been bad in the first inning. He has allowed 13 earned runs in as many first frames this season. RHP Grant Holmes goes for the Braves. He's 4-2 with a 4.05 ERA on the season. When it comes to the first inning, that ERA jumps up to 4.85 in 13 starts.

Tampa Bay Rays at Los Angeles Dodgers NRFI (-115)

One of the more underrated pitchers in the game, RHP Drew Rasmussen, goes for Tampa. He's 6-2 with a 2.71 ERA in 2026. His ERA in the first is 4.85. However, when you look deeper into the numbers, opponents are hitting just .152 off him in the opening frame. LHP Justin Wrobleski goes for the Dodgers, and he's 7-2 with a 2.95 ERA. He has had some blips in the first inning with a 4.91 ERA, but we like this combination to connect for an NRFI.

What Does NRFI and YRFI Mean in Baseball?

The term NRFI indicates no runs scored in the first inning. Its opposite, YRFI, indicates yes, a run will be scored in the first inning. It doesn't matter if the run qualifies as an earned run or not. If a run crosses the plate in the first inning for either team, the wager loses for the NRFI side and wins for the YRFI side.
