WNBA History: Caitlin Clark Steals Sabrina Ionescu's Spot After 25-Point Game

Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever defeated the Connecticut Sun at Mohegan Sun Arena on Saturday, 85-75. Clark scored 25 points on 10-of-17 shooting, while also recording three rebounds and five assists.

The two-time All-Star was particularly on point when it came to her long-range shooting, as she made five triples out of her 10 attempts. One of her biggest shots from deep came with 8:06 left in the fourth quarter, as she drained a 24-foot triple to give the Fever a 67-65 lead.

Making her performance even more remarkable, Clark made history in the process. Aside from moving up to sixth in the Fever's all-time 3-point leaderboard, she broke a tie with New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu.

According to the Fever, the superstar guard officially surpassed Ionescu for the second-most career games with at least 25 points, five assists and five 3-pointers.

Clark now has 10 such games in her career. It was also her second game with that stat line this season following her 32-point, 10-assist and seven-3-pointer showing against the Washington Mystics on May 15.

"In last night's win, Caitlin Clark passed Sabrina Ionescu for the second most career games (10) with at least 25 points, 5 three-pointers made and 5 assists," the Fever wrote on X, while also sharing a video of Clark's highlights from the Sun game.

Clark now trails only Diana Taurasi for the record, who accomplished the feat 25 times during her legendary 20-year playing career. Considering that the Fever guard is only in her third season, it wouldn't be surprising to see her eventually break the record..
