Josh Hokit destroys Derrick Lewis at UFC Freedom 250
UFC Freedom 250 featured a heavyweight clash between undefeated rising star Josh Hokit and the knockout king Derrick Lewis. The bout was a late addition to the fight card.
President Donald Trump requested Lewis be featured on the historic event. Hokit had just picked up the biggest win of his career over Curtis Blaydes and jumped at the opportunity for a quick turnaround against Lewis.
Hokit gave Lewis the finger during fighter introductions and took the center of the cage when the fight began. Hokit missed with a spinning back kick. He began using leg kicks. Lewis pressed forward but missed with a combination. Hokit connected with a right hand. Hokit changed levels and took Lewis down. He postured up and landed right hands to the body. Hokit moved to side control and stood over Lewis. He connected with a big right hand followed by a hard elbow. Lewis tried to get up but Hokit pulled him back to the canvas.
Lewis was cut but an elbow. Hokit delivered right hands. He mounted Lewis. Lewis rolled two his knees and tried to stand. Hokit pulled him back down. Hokit applied an armbar. Lewis stayed calm and made it to the end of the round. MMAWeekly scored the round 10-8 for Hokit.
Lewis inched forward to start the second round. Hokit stopped that with his jab. Lewis missed with a head kick attempt. Hokit changed levels and worked for single leg takedown. Lewis stuffed it and landed punches. Hokit disengaged and retreated. Lewis began pressuring Hokit. Hokit connected with a clean combination. He landed another one. Lewis tried to fire back but looked fatigued. Hokit landed another right hand and they cliched.
Midway through the frame, Hokit connected with another right hand. His right hand was landing at will. Hokit doubled up with right hands and clinched. Hokit delivered punches on the inside before breaking free. Hokit connected with a combination He landed another combination. A right hand sent Lewis crashing to the canvas. A few follow up shots and the referee stepped in.
The official time of the TKO stoppage was 4:09 of the second round.
