Landry Shamet Delivers ‘Generationally Great' Message About Jalen Brunson

Jalen Brunson led the New York Knicks to the franchise’s first NBA title since 1973 on Saturday night, taking down the San Antonio Spurs with a 94-90 final score in Game 5.

Brunson scored 45 points, becoming the first Knick in franchise history to score more than 40 points in an NBA Finals game. The rest of his teammates combined for 49 total points in the series-clinching victory.

Knicks sharpshooter Landry Shamet, who finished the game with five points on 2/7 shooting from the field, sent a strong message about Brunson’s impact on Saturday night.

“We owe him. We weren’t great offensively tonight, but he is generationally great offensively,” Shamet said during his postgame press conference.

Brunson averaged 32.6 points per game as the Knicks notched a 4-1 series win over Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs, enough to earn him Finals MVP honors.

“Words can’t describe it, but I’ll say I put a lot of time and effort into trying to be the best player I can be to try and help a team win,” Brunson said postgame, via ESPN. “Just really thankful to have the organization, the coaching staff, my teammates, to have my back every single day. I think that means the most to me. And my family.”
