Charles Barkley Blasts New York ‘Scumbag' Who Egged Victor Wembanyama

Charles Barkley, equally legendary for his Hall of Fame NBA career and his “Inside the NBA” commentary, came under fire for his joke about Cardi B’s physique during her halftime performance at Game 3 of the 2026 NBA Finals on June 8.

Later in the week, while appearing on “The Dan Patrick Show,” Barkley said he “would love to get fired” by ESPN and doesn’t plan on reining it in - for the rest of the 2026 NBA Finals between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs or any time after that.

During ESPN’s “Inside the NBA” broadcast before Game 5 in San Antonio on June 13, Barkley said precisely what was on his mind yet again - this time, at the expense of Knicks fans. Specifically, he ripped whoever threw eggs at Spurs star Victor Wembanyama after Game 4 in New York City on Wednesday night.

“What kind of scumbag takes three eggs to throw at Wemby?” Barkley posed to Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny Smith, and Ernie Johnson. “Just when you think New Yorkers can't be more punkish, they do something like that. You have to put some thought into that to go home and get eggs and bring them to throw them at Wemby.”

Johnson politely interrupted to clarify that he doesn’t believe it’s “an indictment” on the entire Knicks fan base, and he and Barkley agreed it was an indictment on that person.

“To me, that is very juvenile, so I’m hoping that it was teenagers,” Smith said. “Like, who was carrying an egg for that long in their pocket?”

Smith called those people “real cowards,” before Barkley went off again.

“You know what bothered me the most about it? They actually won the game!” Barkley said, referencing the Knicks’ historic 29-point comeback to win Game 4 and take a 3-1 series lead. “That’s when you know you’re a punk.”
