One of the most exciting matches of the first matchday in the group stage of the 2026 World Cup is Brazil vs Morocco.
Brazil is among the favorites to win the competition, like every World Cup, and Morocco is an exciting team that made history in the previous World Cup.
In the 2022 World Cup, Brazil were eliminated in the quarterfinals after a 1-1 draw with Croatia after extra time. The game was decided through a penalty shootout, where Croatia won 4-2.
Morocco became the first African nation to reach the World Cup semifinal in the 2022 World Cup, but was knocked out by France. Morocco finished 4th in the 2022 World Cup after losing to Croatia in the third-place match.
Ahead of the World Cup this summer, Brazil and Morocco played two friendly matches to prepare.
Brazil defeated Panama 6-2 at the Maracana and then defeated Egypt 2-1 in Cleveland, Ohio. Morocco defeated Madagascar 4-0 at Rabat, Morocco, and then drew 1-1 with Norway.
Brazil and Morocco played a friendly match back in March 2023, and Morocco won the match 2-1 with goals from Sofiane Boufal and Abdelhamid Sabiri; Casemiro scored the only goal for Brazil.
