Indiana Fever Get Good Injury News Prior to Saturday's Game at Connecticut

The Indiana Fever have plenty of momentum heading into Saturday's road matchup against the Connecticut Sun, and they received some encouraging news on the injury front less than 24 hours after their thrilling overtime victory over the Chicago Sky.

According to the Fever's official injury report, both Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham are listed as probable for Saturday's game in Connecticut. Clark continues to manage a back issue, while Cunningham is dealing with a right elbow injury that forced her to miss Thursday night's matchup against Chicago.

The update is particularly notable for Cunningham, who was ruled out against the Sky after initially being listed as questionable. Her availability appeared uncertain entering the weekend, but the latest report suggests she is trending toward a return as Indiana looks to build on its recent success.

Fever Receive Positive Update on Clark, Cunningham

Indiana shared its status report Friday, listing both Clark and Cunningham as probable.

Clark has been managing back soreness but has continued to play through the issue. The second-year superstar showed little sign of being limited against Chicago, finishing with 32 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds in one of her best performances of the season.

Meanwhile, Cunningham's status may be the most encouraging development for the Fever.

The veteran guard missed her first game of the season on Thursday after dealing with elbow soreness. Head coach Stephanie White revealed earlier this week that the injury had been bothering Cunningham for some time and that the organization wanted to be cautious with her long-term health.

After sitting out against Chicago, Cunningham now appears close to returning to the lineup.

Indiana Continues Building Momentum

The injury update comes at an ideal time for the Fever, who improved to 7-5 after Thursday's dramatic 114-106 overtime win over the Sky.

Clark led the way offensively, but Indiana also received a monster performance from Aliyah Boston, who erupted for 34 points and 12 rebounds. Kelsey Mitchell added 19 points as the Fever overcame a late Chicago rally before pulling away in overtime.

The victory marked Indiana's second straight win and moved the team into third place in the Eastern Conference standings.

With the Commissioner's Cup portion of the schedule winding down, every game continues to carry added importance as the Fever attempt to establish themselves among the WNBA's top contenders.

Looking Ahead to Connecticut

Saturday's matchup presents a favorable opportunity for Indiana.

The Sun enter the contest at 2-12 and currently sit at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings. Connecticut has lost four straight games and has struggled to find consistency throughout the season.

Still, the Fever know the importance of avoiding a letdown after an emotional overtime win.

Having Clark available and potentially getting Cunningham back would provide another boost as Indiana looks to continue climbing the standings.

For now, Fever fans can take comfort in the latest injury report, which suggests two key contributors should be available when Indiana takes the floor Saturday night.
