Spurs' De'Aaron Fox Responds to NBA Finals Game 4 Scrutiny

De’Aaron Fox had a brutal finish to Wednesday night’s Game 4 loss to the New York Knicks.

The San Antonio Spurs‘ veteran point guard committed multiple costly turnovers as the Knicks stormed back to mount the largest comeback in NBA Finals history, erasing a 29-point lead and securing a 107-106 final score at Madison Square Garden.

Fox secured a rebound and took the ball in transition as the Spurs lead 106-105 with just over 10 seconds remaining in the game. Instead of slowing the play down and forcing the Knicks to foul, he went up for a contested layup on OG Anunoby.

Anunoby blocked Fox’s shot, securing what would be the Knicks’ game-winning possession.

Fox faced some serious scrutiny following this tough NBA Finals performance. And during his media availability on Friday, he was asked about the criticism pointing his direction.

“It’s not like people have my phone number and can call me,” Fox said. “”t doesn’t matter. It is what it is. Can’t change it now.”

“It is what it is. We’re trying to move on from that. Obviously continue to learn from the mistakes that we made,” he continued.

Fox and the Spurs were in the driver’s seat for the vast majority of Game 4, seemingly primed to tie the NBA Finals series at 2-2 heading back to San Antonio. But now, the team has its back against the wall - needing to win three straight games in order to secure the NBA title.
