Caitlin Clark Facing Backlash For Throwing 'Tantrum' In Fever Win
Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark was sensational on Thursday against the Chicago Sky, but she wasn't able to avoid some online criticism.
Clark had 32 points and 10 assists in a 114-106 overtime win at home. It was the third time in her career that she had at least 30 points and 10 assists, which is already the most in WNBA history.
While there's no denying Clark was incredible for the Fever, she was called out by Jason Whitlock for yelling at the refs. There was a moment in particular where she thought the Sky got away with a hard foul.
"Caitlin Clark was a really hard watch yesterday," Whitlock wrote on social media. "She's untouched here, throws a tantrum, draws a tech. Her body language all game awful. Foul-baiting as much as SGA. Hard watch."
"I'm a Clark fan and don't see much of a foul," a fan said.
"Clark is CONSTANTLY trying to influence calls with ridiculous head snaps EVERY single time SHE initiates contact," a second fan commented. "It's embarrassing to watch, and she's just making it hard on herself and more importantly, her team."
Caitlin Clark was part of history on Thursday night.
Clark wasn't the only member of the Fever who had a 30-point double-double against the Sky. They also received a sensational performance from Aliyah Boston, who had 34 points and 12 rebounds.
Boston and Clark are officially the first duo in WNBA history to record 30-point double-doubles in the same game.
The Fever will return to the hardwood Saturday to take on the Connecticut Sun. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. ET.
