Braves-White Sox postponed by rain, to be made up Aug. 20

Thursday’s game between the Atlanta Braves and Chicago White Sox was postponed due to inclement weather in Chicago.

The game, originally the finale of a three-game series, will now be played Aug. 20 with a first pitch of 1:10 p.m. local time. The Braves will stop in Chicago between three-game road series against the Minnesota Twins and Milwaukee Brewers that week.

The White Sox won the first two games of the set. Rookie Braden Montgomery made his debut on Tuesday and became the fifth player in history to hit a walk-off homer in his MLB debut during the 6-5, 10-inning win.

On Wednesday, Chicago starter Davis Martin held the Braves scoreless across six innings as the White Sox surged into first place in the American League Central with a 2-1 win. Chicago entered play on Thursday with the division lead for the first time since April 20, 2022.

As a rainstorm moved into the area, the game was initially delayed by about an hour before the teams agreed to postpone.

Fans with tickets to Thursday’s contest can use those for entry into the rescheduled game.
