Landon Donovan Debuts His New Look At The 2026 World Cup

Landon Donovan is officially debuting his new look at the 2026 FIFA Men's World Cup in Mexico on Thursday afternoon.

Mexico is set to take on South Africa in the first game of the tournament. Donovan, one of the best players in U.S. men's soccer history, will be on the call for FOX. Donovan, who scored a legendary group stage goal in the 2010 World Cup, has been known for his balding hairstyle.

However, Donovan has been rocking a new look in recent months, and it's on full display at the 2026 World Cup. Donovan is rocking his new black hairpiece.

Donovan, who has undergone multiple hair transplants and tried all sorts of different procedures, finally bit the bullet and decided to get a hairpiece.

It makes him feel good and more confident.

Donovan opens up about his new hairstyle

Donovan felt that it was important to talk about it, too.

"I like to humanize myself. I also knew I was balding. If I just showed up one day with this hair, people who knew me would say, 'What the hell is going on?' It would be the elephant in the room. Why not bring people in? There are many people - men and women - who are dealing with baldness and trying to figure out what to do. Why not be honest about it?" he told Yahoo! Sports.

"I can't tell you how many messages I've gotten from people saying, 'Thank you. I'm gonna be brave and do it.' This is a disease. It's not our fault. If it makes you feel better, do it."

Donovan has opened up about his mental health focuses, as well.

"The three M's: medication - I take [an antidepressant] called Lexapro, a very mild dose, but it keeps me sane - meditation and, in really bad moments, [having] my mom around. That's in addition to exercise. When I get my heart rate up and sweat, I'm at peace. It was easier when playing sports was my job because it was built into my routine, but that is important to me," he shared.

The 2026 FIFA Men's World Cup begins on FOX at 3 p.m. E.T.
