De'Aaron Fox Taking Heat for Disastrous Game 4 Decisions
The San Antonio Spurs have a De’Aaron Fox problem – and it’s going to cost the team an NBA title.
Fox’s significant gaffes during Game 4 of the NBA Finals opened the door for the New York Knicks to finish off an epic and historic 29-point comeback. Tom Haberstroh of Yahoo Sports publicly called out the veteran guard in a column pointing out his disastrous decisions near the end of the game.
With 15 seconds left and a one-point Spurs lead, Victor Wembanyama got the stop the team desperately needed. On the rebound, the ball squirted past half court as Fox chased it down to gain control.

“All Fox had to do was make the savvy move. Dribble the ball out. Wait for the Knicks to foul. Go to the line to extend the lead and potentially ice the game,” Haberstroh thought out loud.
“And then the unthinkable happened: Fox forgot the clock and score. He must have, right? There’s no other explanation for what he did next,” he added. “With about 12 seconds left, Fox didn’t dribble it out. Instead, he tried to lay it up over the bigger OG Anunoby and promptly got blocked by the two-time All-Defensive team wing. The Knicks recovered the loose ball.”
But that was hardly Fox’s only mistake.
On what could have been the final shot attempt of the night, Jalen Brunson missed a 3-pointer, but OG Anunoby raced to the basket for the game-winning tip-in in the final seconds.
Who was supposed to be guarding Anunoby? Fox.
