New York Newspaper Takes Aim At Victor Wembanyama Before Game 4

Game 4 of the NBA Finals between the Spurs and Knicks is tonight and Madison Square Garden is potentially going to be rocking like never before. Ahead of the big game though, the New York Post decided to poke a little fun at Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama.

This morning the New York Post released a cover that depicts Wembanyama controversially pushing Knicks star Jalen Brunson's head down in the paint during Game 3. The tagline was "WANTED: For Crimes Against the Knicks" and listed off a "charge" of a flagrant foul.

The paper also took a little dig at Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg, with the subheading "Even soft-on-crime D.A. Bragg would find him guilty."

"Stop Whining"

As amusing as Knicks fans seemed to find the cover, other NBA fans dismissed it as a case of the Knicks just whining over their inability to beat the Spurs in Game 3 and secure a sweep.

"Knicks fans are legit embarrassing themselves with this constant whining," one user on X remarked.

"Typical NY trash. He's just as physical as everyone else. He just happens to be the biggest guy on the court, and the best player," another said dismissively.

"Stop it and grow a pair, to all the whiners. Guy got away with stuff like many players, and Brunson wasn't hurt. Match (or exceed) the physicality, send a message and take care of business tonight," a third wrote.

"New Yorkers are so soft. Sorry Big Apple rag!"

"NY: 'WE WANT WEMBY!!!' Also NY: 'Hey! Not like that. Do something about him, NBA.'"

"If they called this they'd have to also suspend four of the Knick's players."

Suffice it to say, the Knicks aren't going to be getting much sympathy from fans outside of their sphere.

The Knicks are pretty fortunate right now that they're up 2-1 rather than down 2-1 right now. After convincingly taking Game 1 in San Antonio, it took a plethora of unforced errors by the Spurs for the Knicks to eke out the Game 2 win at Frost Bank Center.

Then, in the first NBA Finals game at Madison Square Garden in decades, in the presence of the President of the United States and dozens of celebrities, the blew a lead and lost Game 3 115-111.

A win tonight would put them on the cusp of championship glory. A loss would reset the series entirely and perhaps have the entire city looking on nervously.
